When something is done really well, it's something you don't notice. It seems effortless. You only notice the power when it stops working, for instance.

And something you don't notice isn't appreciated over time. People get used to it. Over time, it isn't seen as something requiring effort. It's starts to turn invisible.

I was sitting watching a movie when I noticed a spider crawling on the wall. It was small, but quite menacing; sharp legs, and tiny oscillating mandibles. No big deal, I thought. I don't mind insects. We could get along.
