The Hipster Hatred Paradox

I like hipsters. I like people who dress up. Who hang about hip places. Who affect aloofness. Who try to be weird.

I think it's fun.

I don't think many hipsters enjoy themselves, though. It seems like a lot of hard work.

But it's fun to know they're around. Adds colour.

A lot of people don't like hipsters, though. Pretentious. Annoying. Etc.

The people who don't like hipsters are also hipsters.

Let me explain.

One device, a network, and various user input/output devices.

Eventually the device becomes so personalised and so integral it is hard to tell the difference between it and yourself.

You become a device, the device becomes you.

Eventually the network the device connects to becomes so ubiquitous, so powerful, the device just becomes a conduit for the network.

It is hard to tell where the device begins and the network ends.

In fact, they are the same thing.

Eventually you become the network and the network becomes you.

Eventually the network starts to define reality.

In fact it is hard to tell the difference between reality and the network ...
